Uniquely matured in ex-bourbon casks, quarter casks and then puncheons,The Triplewood displays gentle peat notes, yet huge depth of flavour thanks to the triple cask maturation. Unlike any other whisky, the second maturation is done in small 19th century-style quarter casks created specially for Ardmore.It’s the third ‘finish’ that adds banana that underlies a wonderfully rich fruity complexity.
- Percent: 46% ABV
- Colour: Glorious golden straw; almost honey-like in appearance.
- Nose: Biscuit and cereal notes, with a scent of banana underlie the initial nose of ginger, burnt sugar, cherries and honey. A drop of water intensifies the ginger snap biscuit notes with soft highland peat smoke.
- Taste: Caramelised sugar, toasted barley are followed by sweet vanilla custard, with hints of peppercorn and dried fruit.
- Finish: Light with soft peat smoke, lingering pepper and toasted almonds with a well balanced dry mouth feel.
